International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) is an international nonprofit organization that was founded in 1988 and is devoted to protect the night skies for present and future generations.
Today, IDA is a worldwide recognized authority for night sky protection and has taken the lead in identifying and publicizing the negative impacts of artificial light at night on human health, wildlife and climate change.
After years of work, on June 2017 the village of Albanyà, where Bassegoda Park Observatory is located, turned into the first international dark sky park in Spain that received the recognition of IDA.
